Message From The Chairman
I’d like to say how honoured and humbled I am to have been elected Chairman of the Bleu du Maine Sheep Society.
My involvement with the breed began in 2020 when the Danygraig Flock purchased its first Bleu du Maine ewe from the Percy Tait dispersal. Since then, we have continued to grow the flock with purchases from the Haydon, Inveresk, Cysgod, Aghvailly and Maximum flocks, and today we run around 25 breeding ewes.
More recently, we have also begun producing Millennium Blues, which I believe have an exciting future alongside the Bleu du Maine breed.
As Chairman, I look forward to working closely with the Society council and our members to promote and develop both breeds. I believe there is great potential to expand their presence within the commercial sheep sector while continuing to showcase the qualities that make them such valuable, versatile and modern sheep.
I am always happy to talk about the breed, so please don’t hesitate to come and have a chat at shows, sales or Society events. Whether you’re a long-standing breeder or simply interested in learning more, I’d be delighted to hear your ideas and answer any questions.
Thank you once again for your support. I look forward to working with everyone to help drive the Society and both breeds forward.
