National Sale 2021

Posted: 20th August

Trade was on fire for the Bleu Du Maine and Millennium Bleu’s forward at Carlisle this weekend.

At 3,500gns ram lamb HAYDON VIP from Haydon House Partnership, joins the MAXIMUM Flock of Sally Shone. This powerful ram lamb, by PERDI Singy Boy set the trade alight with his exceptional length, great skin and abundance of style.

Close behind him at 3,400gns was SKYE Terminator, the first ever Bleu forward for sale from new breeder Kenneth O’Connor. Son of the 4,000gns MAXIMUM Obama, Terminator has found his home at the AINTREE flock of Richard Pilkington.

Other prices of note in the males included 2,000gns for HAYDON Victory, from Haydon House Partnership. By PERDI Singy Boy again and out of a MAUNBY Butch granddaughter from the LANGLEY Flock, he sold away to Andrew Wylie (BALBRYDIE).

Pre-Sale Show Champion, MAXIMUM Vin Diesel a ram lambs forward from Sally Shone found his new home with a commercial flock at 1,500gns.

With 18 Bleu Du Maine shearling rams averaging £801.50, there was plenty of strong bidding from both pedigree and commercial buyers.

Females were in huge demand which included the HAYDON Flock smashing the 2,000gns barrier twice, with their 1st and 2nd prize shearling gimmers, both selling to new member, Gareth Lee.

Both 2,500gns, HAYDON Truffles and 2,000gns HAYDON Tilly were sired by the legendary MAUNBY Butch, with Truffles being full sister to the 2020 National Sale top price, HAYDON Tommy.

A tremendous run of ewe lambs from Haydon House Partnership saw six average 1,075gns with five daughters of PERDI Singy Boy sell to 1,600gns, 1,250gns, 1,200gns and 1,000.00gns.

Demand for Millennium Bleus remains exceptionally strong with averages surpassing those of 2020. Paul Farmer (MOORLANDS) saw his shearlings rams away at 1,100gns and 1,000gns with Richard Pilkington selling his shearling ram AINTREE Toredor at 1,100gns.

This was closely followed by AVIEMORE Top Shot who was away at £1,050gns.

The Millennium Bleu female champion, BROTHERTOFT Tatiana from A Wright & Son sold away at 800gns again to Mr Lee, with Richard Pilkington topping the ewe lambs with AINTREE Vicky at 480gns.

We also said farewell to the Harper Family who dispersed their DERWENT flock to average £687.75; we hope to see you again one day.
